The new Map Expansion add-on is now available! Please note that these maps and the added story cards are also included within the Player Expansions.

If you’d like to add this to your pledge, you can do so now on the campaign page by selecting "Manage your pledge" > "Change your pledge". Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

First Look at Player Expansion Rules!

Each player expansion adds a new boat to the fleet, complete with its own unique shields and crates to deliver (and now new MAPS!!!). With a maximum of two Vikings per boat, the fleet sails together, working to protect each other from the horrors of the depths. Greater numbers bring greater strength—but also more beasts to face... 

We’ll provide a gameplay summary here, but if you’d like to dive into the full rulebook, click the link below. The Player Expansion rules can be found on the last page! :)

Cooperative Fleets

When sailing together in the same area, Vikings will gain fighting bonuses, be able to leap from boat to boat (adjusting the boat speeds, slowing if you have more than 2 Vikings onboard), and may attack beasts around their companions boats with ranged weapons!

However, stalking beasts will often appear, raising the stakes for all parties!

Rival Fleets: Race for Hersir!

Your tribes are desperate for a strong new leader and disputes arises over who will become the new Hersir. To prove your worth, you enter a perilous race across the sea, slaying beasts and disrupting rival boats to claim victory and the title!

New Loadout Items & Trading

At the beginning of the voyage, each Viking selects one starting item before setting sail! During visits to mid-way Ports or Havens, Vikings can also trade silver (earned from beast bounties) for any of these items.

We’ll be announcing the winner of the next Stretch Goal vote later this week—be sure to cast your vote by commenting on Update #7!

We’re also turning the $475k stretch goal into another community vote because we love seeing your choices shape the game! Toward the end of the campaign, I might even handpick a few extra beasts that didn’t win earlier polls as a fun bonus (funds permitting). :)

This voyage keeps getting wilder and more chaotic with all the new beasts you’ve been voting on! 

Let’s see which creatures you’ve chosen to face...

🪼 The Ghostlight Jellyfish! ($325k Stretch Goal Vote)

You feel a shift in the air as the hairs on your arm stand unnaturally on end. Brilliant light fills the waters beneath you, reminiscent of when you watched the Valkyries riding across the vibrant night sky. Yet, you suspect these lights are not guiding you to Valhalla but luring you into the abyss, as more beasts are revealed, illuminated by the glow of this creature's light.

🪸The Coral Golem! ($350k Stretch Goal Vote)

As you sail through the choppy, shallow waters, an obscured figure quakes beneath your hull. Just when you think you might pass it over without incident, it shatters the cold surface with unexpected violence! The mist clears, revealing a towering stone figure looming over the front of your ship. There’s no time to turn as your boat scrapes against its dark, crude, coral-like body. You grip your blade, ready to engage in battle, but hesitate—unsure if your weapon will even make a difference...

GREAT votes everyone! I cant wait to see these beasts added to the depths!! 🌊

New Maps Add-On UNLOCKED!

We’re thrilled to announce that you’ve all unlocked the next stretch goal! 

New maps are now included with each player expansion that thematically extends from the original map and added Song of Skalds story cards!

Sail beyond the edge of the starting map to develop new ports and havens, while exploring the uncharted waters!

While these maps will automatically be included in the Player Expansions & the Legendary Pledge, their gameplay isn’t limited to larger Viking fleets. To ensure no one misses out, we’ll also offer the maps as a standalone add-on for those who don’t plan to get the player expansions but still want access to this exciting new content!

If you want to see the player expansion rules in more detail, we have updated the Rulebook that is linked on the campaign page!  

Did you feel that? Its... cold... 👻

A hush of icy winds welcomes a ghostly mist that crawls around your boat like a pack of wolves surrounding their prey. The horizon vanishes. Instinctively, you turn to the back of the boat just in time to see a dripping shadow leap from your crates and disappear into the mist with a shrieking sound! You try to make sense of the figure you just saw, but doubts flood your mind—did you see anything at all? To dispel your disbelief, you inspect the crates and discover claw marks gouged deep into the wood. You know what stalks you now... The Mist Wraith.

More Beasts Unleashed: We’ve Passed $400k!

We passed $400k!! 🤯

We can’t express how exciting it is to see that we’ve unlocked 4 more stretch goals since our last update, and we’re just getting warmed up! 

But first… let’s dive into the new Beast you all voted on!!

The LEVIATHAN! ...and more 😏

We wouldn’t have a true Abyss Deck without this monstrosity, and your votes made that clear!

Not only do we get the LEVIATHAN, but there’s more exciting news! While tallying, I realized I’d accidentally included Leviathan in both our new beast votes on Discord ($150k unlock) and Kickstarter ($300k unlock). Both polls chose the Leviathan! So, to make this right… 🙃

We’re adding TWO additional beasts by unlocking both the second-place votes: the PLESIOSAUR and the NARWHAL!

In total, we’ve now unlocked 14 stretch goals that wouldn’t be in the game without all your support for this project! 

Let’s keep the votes rolling and see what’s next... 🐺

We’ve been doing some final testing on the player expansions over the past two weeks before publishing the rules, and we’re nearly there! Keep your eyes on the Littlest Lantern pinned comments for updates on when we release the updated rulebook. Please note that all posted rules are still subject to change and have yet to go through the full editing process. 🤓📖

We’d love to have a set schedule, but since the studio space we’re using is shared, we’re working around others' schedules. We are extending our Early Bird Rewards through TODAY (11:59PST)! 

If you haven’t locked in your pledge or added the $1 Shimmering Scales pack, NOW IS THE TIME! 

Any physical pledges made TODAY (Basic, Heroic, or Legendary) before 11:59 pm will receive the exclusive Serpent Pin for FREE and have the option to add Shimmering Scales deluxe upgrade pack for only $1 (it will go up to $10 afterward). 

We noticed the add-on disappeared at midnight last night, which was less than 24 hours from our last update—so we’ve extended it for one LAST DAY!

Just a reminder: if you already placed the $1 VIP reservation, you DO NOT need to add Shimmering Scales to your order. It will be automatically added in the Pledge Manager after the Kickstarter ends.
